Prima Pramac Racing racer, Jorge Martin , managed to achieve an unmatched pole position in the 2024 Indonesian MotoGP qualification .
Jorge Martin performed impressively in the 2024 Indonesian MotoGP qualification at the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Saturday (28/9/2024).
Martinator recorded a time of 1 minute 29.088 which is also the new fastest MotoGP lap record at the Mandalika Circuit.
Meanwhile, Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing) experienced bad luck, failing to record a lap time at all because he fell twice in qualifying 2 (Q2).
Martin’s achievement looks impressive when the best records of his closest rivals, namely Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46) and Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) are 0.5 seconds apart.
The Qualification Process
Qualifying session 1 (Q1) began, with 11 racers entering the track to hunt for the two fastest time positions to qualify for Q2.
Raul Fernandez (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) and Johann Zarco (LCR Honda) took the top two positions in the first attempt.
Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing) took over first place after recording 1 minute 30.243 seconds on his third lap.
Alex Rins (Monster Energy Yamaha) stuck to second place until the end of the first run after only 0.050 seconds behind Alex Marquez.
The riders re-entered the track with six minutes remaining to start their second runs.
Zarco again showed surprising pace after becoming the first rider to touch the 1 minute 29 seconds mark in Q1.
Zarco recorded the fastest time of 1 minute 29.995 seconds.
Trackhouse Racing rider Raul Fernandez moved into the top two after finishing 0.067 seconds behind Zarco.

Alex Marquez had bad luck when he fell at Turn 8 on his last flying lap and failed to qualify for Q2.
The top two riders remained unchanged, with Zarco and Fernandez advancing to Q2 to take part in the session that will determine pole position .
The Q2 session began, Marc Marquez had the same bad luck as his younger brother and teammate because he fell when he was about to do his first flying lap .
Marquez slipped while following Jorge Martin at Turn 15 which caused the Alien to fall every time in the last three qualifying sessions he participated in.

Friday’s fastest man, Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo), also crashed after suffering a low side crash at Turn 16.
It was Martin who finally recorded the fastest time for the time being with 1 minute 29.088 seconds, a new MotoGP record.
Two Japanese motorcycle racers, Johann Zarco and Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha) performed surprisingly by finishing in the top three positions in the first run.
Until the middle of the session, the starting positions on the front row were temporarily occupied by Martin, Zarco, and Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46).
Meanwhile, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo) and Marc Marquez still occupy the bottom two positions until the first run is finished.
The second run began, Marquez experienced another bad luck when he fell for the second time in Q2 of MotoGP Indonesia 2024.
Marquez crashed at Turn 10 while following Bagnaia. Meanwhile, Bagnaia, the defending Indonesian GP champion, managed to climb up to the top three.
Frustration was evident in the Gresini Racing paddock after Marquez was unable to continue in qualifying and will start from 12th on the grid after failing to record a lap time at all.
At the front, no one managed to beat Martin’s time recorded since the first run.
