2024 MotoGP Standings – Marquez’s Position After Becoming an Alien and Winning Again, Bagnaia Emotional Due to Dropping Position

Gresini Racing rider Marc Marquez increased his chances in the championship after winning the MotoGP Aragon sprint in dominant fashion.

Marc Marquez returns to Alien mode after winning the MotoGP Aragon sprint at Motorland Aragon, Alcaniz, Spain, Saturday (31/8/2024).

An anti-clockwise and low grip circuit , Marquez got a golden opportunity to shine and he didn’t waste it.

Marquez was untouchable from the start.

Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac), who has the status of King of Sprint, could only watch helplessly in second place even though he was far ahead of the riders behind him.

Although the sprint statistics are separated from Sunday’s race, Marquez finally felt the top podium again since the Emilia Romagna GP in October 2021.

Marquez has also never won again even since the number of MotoGP races was added to the sprint category since last year.

Victory in the sprint also confirmed Marquez’s dominance because he still led all sessions in the 2024 MotoGP Aragon series .

The additional 12 points also made Marquez break through 200 points in the 2024 MotoGP standings up to the 12th series of the 20 planned series.

Marquez is still in fourth place. However, the gap is now closer to Martin who took over the first position.

Marquez is 75 points behind. To put that in perspective, there are a maximum of 37 points to be won in each series and there are still 8 series left in the season.

Martinator again displaced the defending champion, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo), after finishing in second place.

Initially 5 points behind ahead of the Aragon GP, Martin has now turned things around to lead 3 points over Bagnaia who was made to suffer.

Bagnaia’s bad luck started from the start because he experienced wheel spin . The Nuvola Rossa’s rear tire didn’t bite so he was stuck in place and instead went wide to the right.

Bagnaia tried to survive by moving up to fourth position. However, he made mistake after mistake.

Going back and forth wide or coming out of the corner, Bagnaia’s position continued to drop until he finally finished in ninth position.

Even Bagnaia was overtaken by Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha) even though his Desmosedici GP motorbike was far superior to El Diablo’s YZR-M1 on the long straight towards the final corner.

Bagnaia showed his frustration when he returned to the garage.

Valentino Rossi’s student coldly pointed at the Michelin mechanic, MotoGP’s official tire supplier, who was on duty in his garage.
