The cancellation of a number of races including the 2024 Kazakhstan MotoGP , has forced all events including the Indonesian MotoGP to bear the consequences.
Dorna Sports is certain to immediately implement strict rules regarding the commitment of each circuit that hosts MotoGP, including the Mandalika Circuit .
As is known, throughout the 2024 season, three series have been canceled, from Argentina, India and ending with the announcement of the cancellation of the Kazakhstan GP a few days ago.
The large number of event cancellations has left Dorna Sports in a state of dizzy spell, as they must still hold at least 20 series in a season.
In the end, Dorna forced itself to hold two consecutive races at the Misano Circuit, which has received a lot of criticism.
“We canceled Argentina because of the political situation. India had problems to solve and they couldn’t solve them on time,” said Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta, as reported by GridOto.com from Speedweek.
“We tried very hard to run the GP last year and we will do it again because we believe India is very important,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan cancelled due to preparation problems, due to the flood disaster that hit the country some time ago.
Ezpeleta also touched on the Finnish MotoGP at KymiRing, which until now has been a fairy tale due to geopolitical issues.
These cancellation issues have led Dorna Sports to implement a rule regarding deposit money, which they must pay in order to book a place to hold a race.
The money will be forfeited if the race is cancelled, so the promoter will have more responsibility and Dorna will also receive more compensation if there is a cancellation.
“We cannot let this situation go unnoticed,” the Spaniard stressed.
“From today, local promoters who want to hold a GP must pay a forfeit deposit, and so on and so forth,” Ezpeleta explained.
