Marc Marquez (Gresini) victory at the 2024 San Marino MotoGP at the Misano Circuit left some great moments, such as his chat with Francesco Bagnaia a few minutes after finishing the race.
Marquez was the star of the show once again last weekend. The number 93 surprised everyone and no one by taking victory at Misano, and is back in the fight for the World Championship.
Jorge Martin (Pramac) on the other hand was the biggest loser.
He made a mistake when coming into the pits to change bikes for the wet and fell behind while he was leading the race.
The drama escalated as the rain stopped. Martin had to make a second pit stop and was eventually passed by Marquez and Bagnaia.
Despite closing the gap on Martin by a number of points, the Italian rider was not entirely satisfied with the result on home soil.
Marquez’s overtaking victory surprised him and he couldn’t do much to catch up.
A minor injury following a crash with Alex Marquez (Gresini) at the Aragon MotoGP continues to hamper his performances, although he hopes to return to the top level at the San Marino MotoGP.
MotoGP has shared on its social media a video classified as ‘unseen’, which reveals everything that happened behind the scenes of the San Marino MotoGP.
At the start, the camera captures the joy of the Gresini team after Marquez’s victory.
Marquez repeatedly repeated the most bizarre phrase this weekend.
“Don’t forget: madmen don’t warn, madmen don’t warn!”
Hugging some of the Ducati Lenovo technicians, Marc commented: “It’s not easy to win.”
Bagnaia was wearing number 93 at the time and, after congratulating him, he admitted that he had tried.
“But when you are behind someone, as always, it’s difficult. I cannot overtake you and then you pass,” said Bagnaia.
Marquez replied: “Thank you. You pushed the bike hard. It was difficult because of the rain, right? You went very fast in turn 11.”
Then there was an interesting exchange between Jorge Martin and his team after the race, talking about the mistakes he made.
“That’s how it is. Once I get in, I can’t do much more, I have to wait,” Martin said.
“I couldn’t overtake anyone if I didn’t send them out. With Vinales behind me I stopped.”
“At least we scored a point. I could easily have done a lap under 1.35 seconds,” said a disappointed Martin.
Bagnaia comments on Jorge’s mistake.
“I saw you come into the pits and I thought: ‘What is he doing?’ Martin defended himself by saying it was raining heavily and I thought you were going to stop, I saw you put your foot up.”
Bagnaia concluded: “The weather can change at any time.”
