A surprise occurred where Japanese racer Ai Ogura was almost certain to debut with Aprilia in the upcoming 2025 MotoGP .
Ai Ogura, who is racing with the MT Helmets – MSi team in Moto2 2024, will be plotted to be Raul Fernandez’s tandem on the Trackhouse Racing team next season.
Of course, this news is very surprising, because Ai Ogura has always been said to make his MotoGP debut with Honda someday.
Ogura is one of Honda’s Asian riders, who has long been touted to replace Takaaki Nakagami at the LCR Honda team.
Even two years ago he was almost promoted to the premier class with LCR, but chose to postpone it because he felt he was not mentally ready.
After his performance had declined in 2023, Ogura has again shown that he is one of the most potential riders in Moto2.
The 23-year-old is in second place in the 2024 Moto2 standings, with two wins and a number of good results.
As reported by GridOto.com from Autosport, the agreement between Trackhouse-Aprilia and Ogura is just waiting for a few small details and will be officially announced later.
This news also closes the opportunity for Joe Roberts, who was previously continuously linked with the team led by Davide Brivio.
Roberts is a racer from the United States, which will certainly be a plus for the team from Uncle Sam’s country.
Apart from Roberts, Trackhouse has also been linked with Jack Miller who is looking for a new place for next season.
On the other hand, Honda will most likely maintain Takaaki Nakagami’s position with the LCR Honda team next season.
