This is What Made Bagnaia Fall During the Sprint Race at the British MotoGP

Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia had to finish the race before the checkered flag. Bagnaia crashed in the middle of the race. This is the cause.

Quoted by The Race , Pecco Bagnaia admitted his mistake for the accident he experienced in the sprint race at the British MotoGP, last night WIB. The incident reduced the points gap with Jorge Martin to just 1 point.

Bagnaia had a poor start on the front row. He failed to capitalise on the holeshot. Bagnaia found himself fourth behind Martin, teammate Enea Bastianini and Aprilia rider Aleix Espargaro.

Unfortunately, Bagnaia crashed during the race. The characteristics of his front wheel caused Pecco Bagnaia to fall into the gravel. He admitted that the accident was his own fault.

“I made a mistake, honestly. All weekend in turn four I was very fast, I entered very fast, and this lap I just overdid the line a little bit, I was closer to the apex before, I anticipated the entry and I lost the front,” said Bagnaia.

“Then I struggled a bit with the rear grip in the first lap and a half, more or less,” he continued.

“Then everything went perfect again, I closed the gap, I was super fast, but as soon as turn four came, the crash happened. My mistake, I already apologized to my whole team, because they always do a perfect job, honestly I just made a mistake,” explained Bagnaia.

Bagnaia admitted there was also a fault in the ride height device on his bike. The device jammed shortly after the start causing him to lose position.

“Honestly, I made a very good start. But the rear height adjuster didn’t (work), so I went through corners one and two with the bike lower, and I lost positions, so I was fourth,” he said.

Bagnaia is optimistic about Sunday’s main race. Pecco said his crash and Martin losing the lead at the Sachsenring on the final lap showed the current level of MotoGP.

“If we look, first of all, the new rear tyre is very good, but it makes us crash more, because the rear pushes the front a lot. Today the first three guys finished eight seconds behind fourth. So at the moment the speed that some guys have is incredible. I don’t think we’ve ever seen something like this, it’s very impressive, I like it, but the risk of crashing is always there,” he concluded.
