Ducati Corse General Manager, Gigi Dall’Igna , emphasized that favoritism towards one of the riders will only cause destruction for a team.
The situation that Honda is currently experiencing is due to years of giving special treatment to Marc Marquez.
Marquez seems to be a single individual in terms of developing the RC213V motorbike.
This solution actually only lasted temporarily as all the technical deficiencies of the Honda motorbike were covered by the performance of the Cervera ant.
Honda then experienced a significant decline after Marquez left.
Gigi Dall’Igna realized that what Honda did was the wrong decision.
Where Honda puts too much trust in the strongest rider in their garage.
“When you have a very strong rider, often this makes you not see the opponents at the same level,” Dall’Igna told Speedweek, as reported by Corsedimoto.
“Because you think you have a rider who will solve the problem.”
“However, even if you have a champion, you have to keep working because you always have to give the best bike to your rider.”
“But you have to listen to all your riders to improve the level of the bike,” said Dall’Igna.
Dall’Igna’s statement implied that he would not give special treatment to Marquez, who will become an official Ducati rider in the 2025 season.
Ducati will have six riders using the Desmocedici bike in MotoGP 2025.
Where Ducati will have two champion riders on the main team.
Dall’Igna still maintains the Ducati’s superior power on straight tracks compared to its rivals.
“We are still the best in this regard because our (holeshot) system in general works a little bit better than the others,” said Dall’Igna.
“But I think we will reach our limit in the next two years.”
“Everyone thinks it is the engine that makes us so fast on the straight, but actually there is something else,” he said.
