Pramac owner Paolo Campinoti took the positives after Jorge Martin mixed results in San Marino, saying Martin wanted to prove Ducati wrong for choosing Marc Marquez.
Jorge Martin managed to convert his start from the fourth grid to P1 in the 2024 San Marino MotoGP sprint race. The Pramac rider returned to the highest podium after the last one in the Sachsenring sprint race, Germany.
Unfortunately, Jorge Martin failed to continue his success in the main race due to miscalculation of the weather. Martin even changed bikes twice but in the end had to be satisfied with one point after only finishing 15th.
The disappointing result in San Marino still puts Jorge Martin at the top of the standings , albeit only seven points ahead of Francesco Bagnaia. However, Campinoti believes his rider will get a confidence boost for the rest of the season with a sprint race win.
“In the sprint race he made a fantastic start and that was probably the key to his success. It was a very important result considering that lately even if he finished second or third, he couldn’t be in the front positions,” Campinoti told TNT Sport.
“I think this will be beneficial for him and give him confidence, as a show that he is still in the competition and can make a profit.”
Jorge Martin recently admitted that he was devastated because Ducati finally chose Marc Marquez as Bagnaia’s new partner next season. Even though Martinator had already reached an agreement to join the Italian manufacturer.
Campinoti said Jorge Martin will face the rest of the championship with high motivation to prove that Ducati made the wrong decision by not promoting him.
“Jorge gives the impression of having a very strong character, in reality he is a good guy, a nice person, very human, and now he is more motivated than ever to prove that the Borgo Panigale factory was wrong to choose Marc Marquez,” said Campinoti.
