Lotrlibrary.com – The hosting fee for the 2024 Mandalika MotoGP has not been paid a week before the race starts. The committee consisting of the Injourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) is still short of funds.
The situation certainly worries a number of parties, especially MotoGP fans in Indonesia. Because, there is fear, the race that was supposed to be held on September 27-29 could suddenly be canceled.
However, MotoGP Mandalika Chairman and ITDC Commercial Director, Troy Warokka, emphasized that MotoGP Mandalika’s fate is still safe. The race will still be held as scheduled.
“MotoGP hosting fee payments are quite supportive. This means that the race is certain to continue,” said Troy Warokka to media crew in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), quoted from Antara , Friday (20/9).
He ensured that his party received support regarding hosting fee payments from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf).
In addition, he also expressed his appreciation to the Central Lombok regional government (Pemda) which has a plan to support hosting fee payments. Although it has not been officially announced, there is already a green light.
“We continue to work to get support for this hosting fee source. It can be paid before the race or after the race, there is no problem from Dorna Sport,” he said.
Troy asserted that the preparation for the 2024 Mandalika MotoGP has reached 95 percent and is just waiting for the finishing. He is confident that the race will go according to plan.
According to him, MotoGP Mandalika does not only belong to the organizers, but to all Indonesian people. The race was held to support the economic growth of the community and increase the volume of tourists.
“The MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit is a showcase to show Indonesia’s greatness,” he said.
