Have you ever imagined that there is a library building that is far from antique or ancient? Because there are still people who give the stigma that going to libraries is only a place to find, read and borrow books. However, there is something interesting in China, namely the most popular library in the world called The Tianjin Binhai Public Library.
This library is located in the Binhai Cultural District of Tianjin China, while the library building was built by a design firm from the city of Rotterdam, Netherlands. Apart from that, the construction process was also assisted by local Chinese designers, namely the Tianjin Urban Planning & Design Institute.
Perpustakaan The Tianjin Binhai Public Library ini mulai dibuka pada Oktober 2017 dan mempunyai luas sekitar 33.700 meter persegi yang memiliki lima lantai. Bangunan perpustakaan ini juga dilengkapi dengan rak-rak buku dari lantai sampai ke langit-langit. Ada juga ruang baca yang berada di lantai dasar perpustakaan ini. Selain itu, ada pula area lounge yang berada di lantai tengah, area kantor, ruang rapat serta ruang komputer yang ada di lantai atas.
Bangunan perpustakaan ini mampu menampung kapasitas buku lebih dari 1,2 juta. Hebatnya, ada fitur yang paling menarik dari The Tianjin Binhai Public Library ini ialah rak buku terapung yang berbentuk oval yang disusun di sekitar sebuah auditorium besar dan terdiri dari enam lantai. Rak buku tersebut menciptakan ilusi optik yang indah dan menawan, sehingga para pemustaka menjadi tertarik untuk berkunjung.
Perpustakaan The Tianjin Binhai Public Library ini juga mempunyai julukan yaitu “The Eye”, karena ada ornamen Spherical yang mempresentasikan sebuah bola mata. Bentuk iris bola mata tersebut terlihat begitu jelas, jika dilihat dari area taman depan.
Perpustakaan The Eye ini, selain difungsikan sebagai taman baca juga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai tempat wisata literasi. Alasan mengapan dijadikan tempat wisata literasi, karena bangunan dan koleksinya yang menakjubkan yang bukan cuma memberikan manfaat keilmuan dari buku-buku bacaan, tetapi juga bisa menikmati bangunan estetik dan instagramble yang sering dikunjungi oleh para wisatawan.
The Tianjin Binhai Public Library opened in October 2017 and has an area of around 33,700 square meters and has five floors. This library building is also equipped with bookshelves from floor to ceiling. There is also a reading room on the ground floor of this library. Apart from that, there is also a lounge area on the middle floor, an office area, a meeting room and a computer room on the top floor.
This library building can accommodate a book capacity of more than 1.2 million. Amazingly, the most interesting feature of The Tianjin Binhai Public Library is the oval-shaped floating bookshelves arranged around a large auditorium and consisting of six floors. The bookshelf creates a beautiful and charming optical illusion, so that visitors are interested in visiting.
The Tianjin Binhai Public Library also has the nickname “The Eye”, because there is a spherical ornament that represents an eyeball. The shape of the iris of the eyeball is very clear when viewed from the front garden area.
The Eye Library, apart from being used as a reading park, can also be used as a literacy tourist spot.
